I CAME OUT FOR THE MASSES JUST TO EMPOWER THEM-COLLINS WORLU WOPARA
The name Collins Worlu Wopara is a name to reckon with in Abali Community. Mr Collins indeed is set out to change lots of setbacks in Abali Youth politics. On our interview with him he mentioned how Abali community has suffered in the hands of bad leaders and how the election has been marred with cartels and obscurity. He spoke on his plans for his community and how he intends to change their life for the better. He is a charismatic and an energetic leader in the making. We have segmented the interviews with him in two parts, the first reveals his manifesto and plans for his community and the second post reveals the cartels and the groups that seizes power in Abali Youth election through unscrupulous means. He made the exposure to let the public know that such people exist and might indulge in rigging the present election to the detriment of the people thereby exposing them to bad leadership. He reiterated the need for these cartels to be nipped out from the bud for they are subjecting his people to bad leadership.
Please can you introduce yourself to us?
My names are Collins Worlu Wopara, the third son of Christopher Wopara.
We want to know your area of specialization and where you really acted upon and what you beleived in this politics
I acted in PDP as a party agent under the connection of Hon. Ken Chikere, Victoria Weche vs. Chima Amadi. Also under the election of 'Buldozer', he is normally known as Sergeant Awusie. Since then till now, I am still acting as a party agent.
Sir if tomorrow or today, you are being given the opportunity to serve the people, what do you think you would do to carry people along?
Empowerment, I love empowerment, that is the more reason why I want to contest as Abali youth president. If you looked around very well, you would see that our youth are suffering. They are very very poor-the rate of poverty in Abali community, is very high among other communities. if you doubt, call all the forum of Rebisi communities, differentiate them, see the kind of cars they carry, their dressing, you will find out that the rate of poverty is higher than every other communities. I like empowerment. I don't like giving people fish, but to teach them how to fish. Empowerment is my priority. I believe in empowerment, you can empower somebody educationally, you can empower somebody by giving him a job, there are different types of empowerment, as long as someone benefits from you, you have empowered the person.
Sir if you don't mind, there are people out there that say that politics is a do or die affair, people think they are there for their selfish interest. Are you there for you selfish interest, or are you there for the will of the people?
If you watch me very well you will find out that I am a progress fighter right from birth and likewise now, I'm a married man already. I think what I have now, if I don't want to work anymore or do anything anymore, it will be ok for me to take care of my family to any point they need. I am out because of the masses, because everyday they come to my house disturbing me for one thing or the other. I know how many parents whom I have gone to their schools, to plead on the behalf of their children for the school authorities to allow them take their exams. For how long will we continue to do this? I want a situation whereby they will have the ability to have the power and have the source to carry out their responsibilities as parents, without begging anybody. I am not going there for my own selfish interest, I am going there for the masses.
Do you think that the same people you care for, care for you also?
Just like my father used to tell me that the mind of a man, is like a bag-every one carries his own. Not everyone you care for, cares for you. I don't want to know whether anybody cares for me. All I want to do is to give them what they need as my people. Anybody that cares for me, better for the person. If they don't want to care for me, I leave it to God.
What is your take on the people if they really love you to be their candidate or not how do you feel about it, do you think they will vote you in or vote you out?
I know they will vote me in because I have seen the strength of Abali entirely. I have mapped out the number of supporters I have in Abali community. Infact if Abali sums are up to 200, I think I have 70 to 80 percent of them on my side because they know that my government is going to be transparent, they know that I am not coming out for my selfish interest. They know, I came out for the masses just to empower them, for them at least to have a good living.
After this election, today, tomorrow or in the future, where do you see yourself going in the next five years
I think precisely, Abali youth presidency is not my target, I came out to lay a legacy that will pave my way to Local government chairman, house of assembly , house of reps and so on and so forth. Abali youth presidency is not my target, I just want to lay a legacy that will sail me through.
Do you think after your tenure, that your people will vote you in again?
Believe you me my brothers, you see, after my tenure, the way I am looking at it, the way I have it in my mind, if proper care is not taken, the Abali community will ask me to go for second and third tenure because of the way I am going to run the adminstration. I came out, and I am telling you strongly that my motto is transperency. Whatever that is due, Abali community is made up of four families, Egwuma-Abali, Orije, Orianwo and Orada, whoever or whatever that is supposed to go to each of these families, must go to these families. I cannot give them and just watch away. I will follow it up and make sure, they share it accordingly. So I am assuring you that after my tenure, the people of Abali community will ask me to run for second and third tenure.
After the election are you going to work with people that did not support you?
That is a very sensitive question. My brother I am a giver right from time. I am promising you that if I emerge as president, Abali is one and must speak with one voice and act with one mind. I am going to carry everybody along. There is never a time when the whole of Abali will support me, it is not possible. The whole Abali can never support me. I must not keep anybody behind, those that supported me and those that did not support me, I am assuring everybody as soon as I emerge as the president, I will carry everybody along. Abali must speak with one voice and act with one mind. Thank you
