Benue Killers Are Fleeing Boko Haram Members – Ejiofor

A former Director of the State Security Services, Mr Mike has expressed his view on the recent Benue attack.

He said that the yet-to-be-identified Benue killers are fleeing Boko Haram members rather than herdsmen.
The former SSS boss made this known when he appeared on Channels Television’s Sunrise.
According to him, the manner of sophisticated weapons the attackers used for the massacre, coupled with how coordinated the attacks were carried out simultaneously across some states created room for the suspicion.
“I suspect very strongly too that these people are fleeing Boko Haram members who took to their heels when the military turned the heat in the northeast,” he said.
“The sophistication in which they operate, the arms they use calls to question what our intelligence services are doing.
“We should be able to identify these people. We should be able to know what they want because Miyetti Allah, the national body dissociated themselves from this.
“In Benue for instance, the Miyetti Allah said they cannot obey the law. And at the same time, they said Fulani people were not involved. It is a contradiction.”
The former SSS boss said the incessant killings as a big challenge on the part of the government needed prompt and rapid attention.
Although Ejiofor admitted that Boko Haram insurgency had not yet been totally wiped out, he however stressed that the Federal Government had recorded success in reducing the spate of attacks carried out by the sect.
One of such, he noted, was the gradual release of the abducted students of Chibok Girls Secondary School in Borno State.
