Indications have emerged on why the former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amechi’s screening was postponed from  Thursday to Tuesday next week.
Amaechi who was expected to be screened yesterday alongside some of his counterparts on the ministerial list, former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola; Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, and others, was rescheduled for Thursday for an undisclosed reason.
Clearing up the speculations, the spokesperson for the Senate, Sen. Dino Melaye in an interview on Thursday said that Amaechi ‘s screening was rescheduled as a result of the inability of the committee looking into corruption petitions against him to produce a report.
It will be recalled that Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Petitions, Sen. Sam Anyanwu on Wednesday told the members of the senate that the Amaechi’s petition report was not ready, which prompted the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, to direct that the report be made available on Thursday.
